Potential Volleyball Club

Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide young, female athletes in Yellowknife and surrounding area with the opportunity to learn solid fundamental volleyball skills, practice those skills and to provide opportunities to showcase these skills in a competitive team environment. Through a commitment to training, our young athletes will develop their volleyball skills, while also developing life skills which will help them succeed both on and off the court. Our athletes will be given every opportunity to experience success as a team through territorial and national level competitions.

Vision Statement

When we started this club in 2009, our vision was to offer volleyball programs for young female athletes from as early as four years old through to 18 years of age, all under one club. This was a large undertaking and had never happened in volleyball in the Northwest Territories. We had a five year goal of attaining this vision and we are very proud to announce that this, our fifth year of operation, sees it come to fruition. Moving forward, our goal is to continue to provide the quality programs we offer and to do everything we can to expose the young athletes in, and around Yellowknife to high level volleyball training and competition. Along with developing athletes, we want to continue to develop young coaches which will help make the Potential Volleyball Club sustainable for years to come.

Our 18U program is our top age group and this team is training to excel in the sport of volleyball. This is an intensive program designed to help these girls reach their full potential, both on and off the court. Through a rigorous training program and competition against some of the best teams in Alberta, these players will have tremendous growth in their volleyball knowledge and skills, as well as confidence in knowing they pushed hard to meet the challenges they will face.

NOTE: This is a competitive club program and space is limited. There may be a need to hold tryouts depending on the amount of interest.

The 16U Program is for athletes that want to have fun, but also train to compete at a higher level. These athletes will be focusing on technical training while also incorporating higher level strategies to help raise their skills to new heights. Traveling to compete is a major part of this program and essential to help the athletes reach their full potential.

The 14U program will give those athletes that want to reach their full potential in volleyball an opportunity to train and compete at the highest levels. The confidence that will be built knowing you have trained hard will lead to higher levels of achievement. This team will have the opportunity to travel to Alberta to compete in the Alberta Volleyball Association’s Premier League tournaments as well as the possibility of competing at the Canadian National Championships. A travel team will be selected from all the participants in this program.

Our coaching staff puts the “FUN” in fundamentals! By training proper technique, young athletes will be able to reach higher skill levels as they continue into middle school, high school and club volleyball. It’s like a pyramid; the bigger the base, the higher you can build!
